Premier 1’s – Hawks win tough against Alhambra-Union

Harbour 29
Alhambra-Union 17

Harbour fought back to grind out a hard win against AU on Saturday.

The hawks didn’t start well with a yellow card to Naulia Dawai in the first 3 seconds straight off the kick off for a high tackle.

The hawks were able to grind their way into the game though with tries to Sekonia Pole, Chucky Koroi and Logan Allen with a double.

Logan Allen nailed two penalty conversions and the boys were in the lead going into the break.

The second half was scrappy too with midfielder Sio Tomkinson yellow carded mid way through the second half for a huge hit that saw the AU player flying but was deemed by the referee for a no armed tackle. Supporters watching on thought it was a tough call because he hit him so hard he bounced backwards so fast he didn’t have enough time to even wrap.

Alhambra-Union came back with a try late but it was too late and the hawks managed to cling on.

The hawks take on Taieri next at PJP 2pm
