Premier Colts – Hawks beat Varisty Blue for the first time in 18 years!

Harbour Premier Colts have recorded their biggest upset to date, beating the top university colts side 37-17 at Logan Park on Saturday.

Only a few weeks it ago it was the first colts win in the grade since 2009, now they have gone on to beat the defending champions Varsity Blue, who have won the competitions more times than we can count. It must be noted also that University have four colts sides in 2019 so this victory is huge.

Harbour Prem Colts captain Jack Kiely was a stand out for his side especially in the lineout. Jack said after the win “I’m so proud to be a hawk and that this is just one of many for the Harbour Prem Colts”.

Other notable standouts was tight head prop Hillary Takau who scrummed well and smashed rucks and Taine Wagstaff who was relentless in attack in defence.

The colts are now undefeated in the competition and have recorded bonus point victories in all four games played.

The Hawks next play undefeated Kaikorai in a top of the table clash at Bathgate at 12:30 this Saturday. The boys will be very confident after Saturdays thumping of Varsity and also knowing they beat Kaikorai in pre season earlier in the year.

Get out and support the boys!
