Premier Colts – Team looking to build for 2019

The Harbour Hawks had a tough year in 2018 battling it out in the premier colts division. It was for club the first time since 2014 that the hawks had fielded a colts team in the competition.

Although the team was young and inexperienced they managed to cause some upsets and will look to develop, recruit and become a better team in 2019.

The boys are really excited about the potential for next year and insist that there will be good results to come. There is about 20 of the boys that are back next year and the club has been on the recruit for players already with some quality players from Otago boys, Kings and John McGlashion coming to the nest next year.

There is also two boys from Auckland and a handful from Wellington and Hawkes Bay that have approached the club and want to play for 2019 which is good signs.

It’s becomes quite hard in the colts competition as Varsity and Kaikorai have traditionally picked up most of the university students or ones coming out of school.

There is good incentive though coming to Harbour with the new coaches coming in and the buzz around the club after the prems won the banner in 2018. Not to mention the awesome team environment and culture that comes with being a hawk.

The colts are also heading away on a rugby tour to Bali in 2019 which the boys are excited about and there are still spots available!

The club is aiming to field two colts sides in 2019, one in the premier division and one in the junior colts division.

If you are interested in playing Colts for the Hawks in 2019 then please get in contact with us. Especially if you are wanting to go on the Bali trip as fundraising has already started.
