Premier Colts – Quarterfinal preview

The Premier Colts have managed to make the playoffs for a consecutive year in 2020. The team has been building nicely and will look to attack against a Varsity team that they played against 14 days ago.

Prem colts have got a few boys who will be backing up for the Prems for Saturday. Skipper Jack Kiely said, “We have guys who have been with us all year who will definitely do the job for us. It is playoff footy now, so anything goes. It really does come to who shows up on the day. We have had some really close losses to all teams ahead of us on the table. Some would call us a bit of Chiefs team this year.”

Jack Kiely who has also been called up into the prems bench for Saturday will play half the game for the colts before reserving for the prems. “Its all about the club and I am happy to put my hand up where ever I’m needed. I have good faith in the boys to bring the fizz even without some of our usual leaders on the paddock”.

The Premier Colts are coached by Doug Manu and assisted by Darryl Ogilvie, Kane Cocker and Nick Hegarty.

Assistant Cocker said “I believe we can tip off University, they were lucky 2 weeks ago to come away with the win as we were definitely the better team, we have some really good depth in the squad this year and I am looking forward to giving some of these other boys an opportunity this week to play. There is always some heated debate every week around who makes the 22 as we have such a big squad with a lot of guys putting their hands up when ever they get a chance”.

Cocker is in his first year of coaching but says he has thoroughly enjoyed helping Doug with the colts this year.

Players to watch this weekend is Vice Captain Phoenix Kairimu who has been a standout every game for us and Mason James who runs the cutter at 10.

The Premier Colts take on University Blue this Saturday at Logan park at 12:30
