Premier Semi-Final – Preview

The Hawks have made another Semi-Final this is the 6th year in a row the Hawks have been in the semi-finals!

The boys had a huge win last weekend with Logan Allen slotting a 54m penalty on full time to win it. This week the boys will look to do the same against a strong Taieri side.
The last time these sides met there was only 1 point in it.

Finn Bamber replaces Aleki Morris-Lome who is called up to play for Otago meaning Finn gets his first premier start at 12. Finn has been a massive leader in the colts this year and is said to be the Conrad Smith of the team who never misses a tackle. While scrum time has been the dominance all year for the team with Aidan Spence and Abraham Pole leading the charge.

Captain James Tomkinson is confident going into this clash. “We know what semi-finals footy is about, we have been here many times before and know what it feels like to be on the winning side and losing side, it will come down to moments and if we execute those moments”

Logan Allen is excited to be back in his preferred position of first five this week and young colts first five Mason James comes onto the bench as cover who we might add had over 85% goal kicking accuracy this year for the colts.

Solomon Pole racks up his 50th premier game for the Hawks and will no doubt have a HUGE game. He has been the rock in the pack since losing Charles Elton for Otago.

The boys take on Taieri kicking off at 2:15pm at Port Chalmers.

*Seniors are taking on Strath Taieri in their semi-final and are strong favourites. That game is to kick off at 3pm at Ravensbourne.
